Apply Radius 2 in one passage, it can be done with the SER600 from Q-Fin. This great automatic machine is specially designed to apply Radius 2 on flat sheet metal parts of steel, aluminium or stainless steel with a thickness of 4-40 mm and a maximum width of 600 mm.
With the SER600 Q-Fin brings a machine on the market that can achieve a radius of 2 mm on the edges of the product in one go. This is not a standard machine that can also give a large rounding if desired, but a machine that is specifically built for an R2 on steel. If you are looking for the extremes you need something special. The machine has five machining stations, which makes it unique. A sanding belt and four brush units ensure a perfect rounding of 2 mm on a product.
The SER 600 with magnetic support is suitable for machining steel sheet parts up to 600 mm wide, with thicknesses from 4 to 40 mm. The length of the products is unlimited.
The SER600 is equipped with 5 machining stations. The first station is the grinding unit. The 630 mm wide grinding belt is equipped with an oscillation system. This system ensures that the sanding belt remains stable during grinding. Because of the unique cantilever construction, a beautiful line finish ('brushed' finish) with this machine is also no problem. Changing a grinding belt is done in no time.
The second and third station consists of the so called brush unit, equipped with 4 cross rotating, oscillating bowl brushes. These give pressure from the top and allow you to remove the sharp edges of the product by breaking the edges. By placing special brushes on the first brush row, you can also remove the oxide skin or slag from steel products.
The fourth and fifth machining station consists of 2 shuttle round brushes. These mainly work on the sides of the product. In combination with the 4 bowl brushes, this ensures a maximum radius on the product.
Five machining stations, consisting of a grinding unit with sanding belt, 2 brush units with 4 bowl brushes and 2 units with round brushes ensure a perfect finish and rounding R2!
There is a lot to do over a radius of 2 mm (R = 2 mm). The question is whether such a substantial rounding is really necessary to avoid sharp edges on sheet metal and to be able to achieve a protective layer (by means of powder coating or galvanisation, for example) on the edges that is as thick and strong as the layer on the rest of the surface.
Whoever processes thin stainless steel does not need this, but a producer of steel parts for e.g. public installations commissioned by the government, or for the offshore or petrochemical industry does. This machine is ideal for products that need to be powder coated or galvanized.
If you're looking for the extremes, you need something special. The SER600.
