Parquet sanding is generally done with a parquet sander equipped with a sanding belt or a number of heads with sanding discs. In all cases, it is important to be able to work flat.
The first step is always sanding with a coarse grit to remove the old varnish, wax or oil layer. Dirt and stains are also removed with a coarse grit. The next step is to use a sanding belt fitted with a finer grit to even out scratches and other irregularities. Really smoothing the is then done with a sanding belt with the finest grit.
You can of course rent a parquet sanding machine, but sanding wooden floor is skilled work and if you also want a professional result then we recommend outsourcing this job to a professional craftsman.
