Which sanding belt to use on your hand sander. Choose the right belt size but also pay attention to the grit and quality of the sanding belt.
The handheld belt sander is mainly used in woodworking. With a coarse sanding grit, the belt sander is even used as a planer because of the enormously fast material removal. Especially if the sanding belt is equipped with the so-called 3M Cubitron II grit, you can be sure that a faster sanding operation is not possible!
For stair renovations, for example, where hard glue residues need to be removed, the CubitronII sanding belt is the first choice. If you work with this belt sander all day and speed is very important to you, try the sanding belt Cubitron II minerals and be surprised by its speed.
In some cases, these machines are also used to apply a grinding structure to stainless steel. Beware though, in many cases this is very aggressive and it is advisable to choose a low belt speed if possible.
If the operation is a little finer, say with K80 or K120, aluminum oxide is also a fine choice and offers great value for money. Klingspor has a number of good sanding belts in the program in this.
