3M Cubitron is known for its fibre discs, but do you also know the Cubitron ii sanding belts?
Almost every quality sanding belt from 3M contains, to a greater or lesser extent, the sanding mineral Cubitron ii. On some of our pages you can read more about the benefits and operation of this unique grit. For example, check out our brand page on Cubitron ii.
In brief, the main advantages of the CubitronII grain are:
In Q2 of 2023, 3M will launch the latest sanding belt, specially developed for heavy machining. The color purple refers to the basis of the technology used in this sanding belt. Namely, it is based on the material of the 3M CubitronII fiber disc 982CX Pro. Due to this technology, chipping is even faster and the belt has a long service life. Also, less heat is introduced into the material, reducing discoloration. Thus, this new sanding belt helps increase productivity.
The 984FX Pro sanding belt is suitable for manual and automated applications.
A 3M Trizact belt consists of uniform pyramidal grains on a (flexible) backing. This self-sharpening aluminum oxide grain has a pyramid shape that expands rapidly. It is characterized by an even finish that is reproducible. The Trizact belts have a long service life and often time can be saved because steps in the grinding process can be skipped. Check out our customer case where we achieved great results using a Trizact belt on a deburring machine.
The coarseness of Trizact belt is indicated in a different way than a standard sanding belt. The designation starts with an A and runs from A300 to A5. Unlike a grit (K or P value), the A300 is the coarsest and roughly corresponds to a P80. The A5 is the finest and roughly corresponds to a P3000. So the lower the value, the finer the grain.
Scotch Brite sanding belts are nonwoven belts constructed from an open synthetic web filled with sanding minerals. The open structure reduces the risk of mistakes and discoloration of the workpiece. Scotch BRite can be used as the final step in a grinding process to achieve a beautiful matte finish.
Furthermore, Scotch Brite sanding belts can be used for light deburring, de-rusting and cleaning of surfaces.
The groves are designated by letters. The first letter indicates the mineral: an A (e.g. AVFN = Very Fine) stands for Aluminum Oxide. A universal hard grain with great cutting power and long life.
If the first letter is an S (e.g. SSFN = Super fine) then it means that the tire contains a silicon grain. This is sharper and breaks out sooner than an aluminum oxide grain. The result is a finer finish.
