Q-Fin: The fastest solution in deburring, grinding and rounding
About Q-Fin
Q-Fin is a young, dynamic, innovative and ambitious company that wants to be one of the top European companies when it comes to building high-quality deburring machines by 2022. Innovation is of paramount importance at Q-Fin and they want to be and remain a leader with their machines for deburring, grinding and rounding metal parts.
Q-Fin was founded in 2012 by Bax Metaal and KW Machinehandel. The latter party brought 30 years of experience in grinding and deburring technology, while Bax Metaal has been active for more than 25 years in composite sheet metal and tubular constructions in stainless steel, aluminium and steel. By combining the expertise and experience of these parties, machines can be developed that perfectly meet the needs of the user.
One of Q-Fin's spearheads is to offer an effective and cost-efficient solution for the controllable and safe processing of products.
The Q-Fin machines distinguish themselves from other deburring machines in terms of throughput speed and ease of operation. At the same time, there are countless possibilities for a certain finish, roughness and rounding. Everything can be adjusted to the wishes of the user. Of course from the starting point that the finish must have a high and consistent quality.
Automatic deburring machines and semi-automatic deburring tables
Q-Fin develops two types of deburring machines: automatic feeders with conveyor belt, fully programmable or the semi-automatic table machines. The latest development in the latter category is the updated TopEdge, a milling table for tight and fast milling of a weld edge or radius. Suitable for steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Applications where a Q-Fin machine proves its added value:
Deburring: Q-Fin has developed an innovative machine line for fast, good and easy deburring of steel, aluminium and stainless steel sheet parts. You will always have a machine that deburr your product(s) according to your wishes. At low cost, high speed and easy to operate. The machines can of course also be used to remove burrs caused by other operations such as cutting, sawing, punching and/or punching.
Grinding: With grinding, you can remove burrs from a product, remove unevenness or apply a certain grinding structure to the material. Q-Fin supplies both manual and fully automatic grinding machines. We will be happy to advise you on the right machine for your grinding operations.
Oxide skin: An oxide skin is the hard layer that remains on the cutting edge after cutting. This skin consists of the material that has reacted with oxygen. An oxide film is often formed during plasma cutting and laser cutting with oxygen of steel products. Q-Fin's deburring machines, in combination with the right abrasive materials, can easily remove this oxide film.
Finish up: Depending on the purpose, a Q-Fin machine allows you to apply a constant radius in a single pass by breaking edges or rounding them off according to the required radius, whereby the rounding is optimally adjustable. As standard Q-Fin offers you a combination of deburring, grinding and rounding in 1 machine.
Radius 2: A radius of 2mm (R2) or more is often necessary for optimal edge coverage when powder coating or galvanizing. Q-Fin can supply fully automatic machines with which this R2+ is feasible in one pass. Quality and speed go hand in hand. Q-Fin's latest machine, the SER600, was built especially for this purpose. Further on you can read more about this unique machine.
Radius 2: Rounding off metal sheet parts with a radius of 2 mm (R=2, R2) or a radius greater than 2 mm (R=2+, R2+) is sometimes necessary. For example if parts need to be powder coated or galvanized.
Roughness: Grinding is possible on several degrees of roughness (Ra value) This roughness value can be grinded. The desired roughness depends on the application of the product. Whether it should be free of attaching microorganisms, whether the sight object is or is not, etc. In order to achieve a prescribed roughness, the abrasive is the determining factor. Microjoints: With the Skipjoint from Q-Fin you can quickly and easily remove microjoints, the small ridges that remain on a laser-cut product. Of course without affecting the contours of the product. The Q-Fin SkipJoint is a compact machine with a rotating deburring disc of Ø 255 mm. The angled positioning of the disc allows you to remove micro-joints much neater, easier and safer than with a normal belt sander or grinder.
Line Finish: Q-Fin machines allow you to give products from 10 mm wide to 1200 mm wide the grinding structure of your choice, from K40 to K320. A finish with Scotch-Brite is also possible. In line ground' or line finish is the most common finish for metal, especially stainless steel. We also call this mower of finishing a brushed finish.
Directionally ground: Directional grinding is also called eccentric grinding, orbital sanding, swirling / warbling or shivering. Q-Fin has, depending on your applications and quantities, semi-automatic and fully automatic machines for directionless grinding. We are happy to advise you what is the best choice for you, now and in the future.
Polishing: When polishing, the surface is first smoothed step by step with ever finer abrasives. In this preliminary trajectory grinding is done up to K800. Then the actual polishing begins. Virtually no material is removed, but the surface is 'ennobled' by means of polishing pastes. Visually, a lot changes: the matte finish is transformed into a shiny surface. In addition, the surface roughness decreases more and more with all kinds of technical advantages. Q-Fin has several machines with which you can go through the steps leading up to polishing fully automatically. For the last step - polishing itself - our TopGrinder is ideal.
Dust extraction: A clean working environment not only increases the health and safety of your employees, but also contributes to higher productivity. Q-Fin supplies both wet-acting and dry-acting extraction installations. If you also grind aluminium parts, we recommend the use of an extractor with a wet filter (WES) for fire safety reasons. It also has a constant suction capacity as a major advantage. You can use the dry-working cyclone extractor DES for the extraction of, among other things, swarf.
The Q-Fin deburring machines can deliver unprecedented performance. The right abrasive is essential for this, as is the correct setting of the machine. Think of throughput speed and pressure. The expertise of Metaaltechniekthis is of great value. The power of cooperation is clearly visible here.

Highlight: the SER600 for the application of radius 2 mm on metal sheet metal parts.
Brush system:
With the SER600, Q-Fin brings a machine on the market that can achieve a radius of 2 mm on the edges of the product in one go. It is not a standard machine that can give a large rounding if desired, but a machine specifically built for an R2 on steel. If you're looking for the extremes, you need something special. The machine has five machining stations, making it unique. A sanding belt and four brush units ensure a perfect 2 mm rounding on a product. The SER 600 with magnetic support is suitable for machining steel sheet parts up to 600 mm wide, with thicknesses from 4 to 40 mm. The length of the products is unlimited.
Operation:
There is a lot to do over a radius of 2 mm (r = 2 mm). The question is whether such a substantial rounding is really necessary to avoid sharp edges on sheet metal and to be able to create a protective layer (by means of powder coating or galvanisation, for example) on the edges that is as thick and strong as the layer on the rest of the surface. The main reason for this discussion is that it takes a lot of effort to come to R2. A lot of material has to be removed; for R2 about a hundred times as much as for R0.2. Nevertheless, the national government in particular uses R2 as a general rule for public installations in which sheet metal is used. So this rounding must be done. This can be done by milling, but it's very expensive. The material can also be removed by abrasive techniques (sanding and grinding), both manually and mechanically. The manual application of a radius of 2mm to plates is very labour-intensive and therefore increases the cost price. When machining the edges, many deburring machines require the sheet metal to be fed several times through the machine, if the shape and contours of the sheet metal part make it possible at all.
Grinding belt:
The 630 mm wide sanding belt is equipped with an oscillation system. This system ensures that the grinding belt remains stable and that you will not get a hose pattern in the material during grinding. A nice line finish ('brushed' finish) is therefore no problem with this machine. You can even decide whether you want a long or short scratch.
The grinding head is equipped with a unique, cantilevered construction which makes the F600 the most stable machine in the market. The speed of the grinding belt is infinitely variable. The grit size of the sanding belt is optional, depending on the height and hardness of the burr. Changing a grinding belt is a snap.
