Professional welders are usually aware of the risks to their eyes and face. But other risks, such as welding fumes, are often less well known. The employer is responsible for ensuring that all risks in the work environment are identified and workers have adequate protection. Risks must be clearly explained. After consultation between employer and employees, the appropriate PPE can then be chosen. Very important here is: naming the risks, weighing up the levels of risk, choosing the right type of equipment & training motivation and maintenance.

With the 3M™Speedglas™ automatic darkening filters 9100XXi and 9002NC you can better recognize colors. The light setting is still tint 3, but the filter looks lighter and offers more detail and better view of contours. For an even better view and control of your melting bath, 3M introduces the Speedglas Variable Colour Technology. You can choose from natural (green), cool (blue) or warm (red) shades for your darkness. You decide which colour provides the best viewing contrast for your welds and the most eye comfort.
If you do, you can choose from many models: with all our automatic darkening filters, you can set the darker shade.
This is a very important factor. When making your choice, consider your need for specific dark levels, sensitivity to light-dark switching and dark-light delay options. Each model offers different possibilities here.
The comfort mode for tack welding prevents your eyes from tiring quickly as they have to constantly adapt to the changing light conditions during tack welding. For welders, it is usually very important that they can see more of their work piece without having to move their helmet or move their head. For people who want to see the 'whole picture', the 9100XX or 9100XXi models are well suited.

This innovative welding shield is the world's first curved automatic darkening welding filter (ADF). Because of this Curved Glass Technology, the filter follows the curved shape of the head and thus gives up to 100% more visibility, while the helmet can be made narrower. Of course the filter is equipped with the natural-colour-technology, which gives you a more realistic image and a better control. The light setting of the filter is 2.5. that guarantees a great clarity before welding. The light setting is 2.5.
An additional advantage of a curved welding filter in combination with a slim helmet is that it can help reduce reflections and other annoying glare in the helmet.
